ASF Teacher Seminars for 2011
Welcome, Teachers!
The educational partnership between teachers and the Alabama Shakespeare Festival allows students in Alabama and across the South to learn about theatre-plus literature, history, art, sociology, and many other subjects that drama can include-by sharing the vital experience of live performance at the Carolyn Blount Theatre. ASF's teacher seminars offer educators access to theatre professionals who can provide innovative ways to meet state course of study standards through activities linked to ASF's current productions. These teacher seminars are approved for professional development credits through the University of Alabama.
Julius Caesar
February 4th, 2011 - This historical epic is a "must read" for most high school students. Enjoy Shakespeare's portrayal of this Roman Empire builder and follow the events leading to his assassination. Power, betrayal and revenge: Shakespeare gives this story a personal perspective that students can understand. ASF Teaching Artists trace the historic roots and Shakespeare's unique point of view through language and character. Take home new ways to get your students to love Shakespeare. Join us in exploring one of the Bard's most famous plays.
To reserve your place, download the registration form above and mail it with your payment to the Education Department at ASF. The registration fee of $40 covers the play (if applicable), lunch at ASF, and all sessions. Seminars begin at 8:30 a.m. and dismiss by 4:00 p.m. If your school system is paying for this professional development, you may reserve your spot by writing the purchase order number on the form and sending the payment later. We hope to see you soon at one of the most pleasant and stimulating professional development workshops you'll ever attend.
